Our Plant Experimnet

This term we are learning about plant classification. As a lead in to this we are learning about the parts of plants and also what makes a plant grow. Today we set up an experiment where we changed the conditions for each set of bean seeds. Some have water, light , warmth and air - and then others don't have these things.

The majority of the class have predicted that the plants with air, water, soil and sun will grow best - very clever :)

Working with Tangrams

As part of geometry unit we have been looking at shapes. Last Friday we each had our own tangrams (7 pieces that form a square) and we made lots of different shapes out of them. It was challenging and lots of fun. Here you can see the candle shape some of us made.

PMP Started Today

Today we started our PMP(perceptual motor programme). This is a programme based on balance, body awareness and control and co-ordination. It provides some of the fundamental skills needed by junior children to be able to function to their full potential in the classroom.

It is a fun way to learn these skills and is run as 5 stations that the children move around. Each week the activities can change. Please feel free to come and watch. We attend these sessions 2.30pm on Wednesdays and 10.00a.m on Thursdays.

Room 4 Wins!!!!

Last week at assembly Room 4 got lucky! We won the "Tidy Kiwi" award for keeping our classroom neat and tidy and we also won the "Enviro Gumboot" for trying hard to recycle and put our scraps and rubbish in the right bin.

Invasion Games

This Thursday we played invasion games with Ryan and Fraser. We are learning about protecting our goal, faking a pass, and drawing in a player. It was loads of fun and everyone was busy, busy, busy!

Kyle Mewburn Visits

Last Friday we were lucky enough to have children's author Kyle Mewburn visit our school and discuss story writing and his books with us. He was very entertaining as he shared stories of his own time at school and his journey to becoming a writer.

A huge thank you to Jan, our Librarian, for organising this visit.
